Is it Love?
Is it Love? Really? Everybody sings about it, writes about it, declares it, swears to it, and many even die for it! But, is it love? Really? We often declare, I love my country, my spouse, my home, my God, my job, my life, and “oh how I love this fried chicken!” But I say, is it love? The book of Romans 12:9 says “Let love be without hypocrisy…” therefore we can conclude that it is within our human nature to simulate love, violate it, mis-communicate it, withhold it, cheapen it, fake it, and even despise it.
The passion of Jesus 2,ooo years ago was set off when Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus with a kiss (a distinct expression of love) to His enemies. It is a known fact that in the world of espionage, women have been very effective in using their affections to betray a target enemy agent. Young men flippantly say the words “I love you” to accomplish their lustful mission with a young lady in whom they are passionate, but don’t haveTRUE feelings for at all.
Love Divine and Defined
The context of the word “hypocrisy” above indicates a shady type love, less than pure, less than true, one that is unmeaning and deceitful. The Apostle Paul further addresses this subject in what is known as “The LOVE Chapter” found in I Corinthians 13. He documents what love truly is, and what characteristics it does NOT have. Enjoy the Wisdom of The Word and allow it to penetrate and empower you, to accelerate you in your understanding and in applying “Pure Love” from a Biblical perspective!
Ask Father God to increase your ability to receive love and to give it away. Ask Him to reveal to you ways that you may have misrepresented love to others and allow you to reconcile those times.
