Hindrance to receive?

In computer terms, there are several reasons for not being able to download a file.

  1. Insufficient memory/disk space.
  2. Corrupted files.

The first has to do with the ability to receive; the latter denotes a problem with what will be transferred.

From this perspective, knowing that God is love, if there is a hindrance, who has the problem – the sender or receiver?

Agape’ is always based on the giver not the receiver. In other words, God is completely loving you and I right now, whether or not we are receiving it. But if one can receive this “Agape’ download” on the Givers terms, they will always be overshadowed with joy.

Jeremiah in his writings (31:3) says “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;”.

Gods love is very different than man’s love… which at times is distorted because of a fallen nature. Mans distorted version usually expects something in return, and is based on the performance of the receiver. As Jeremiah points out, Gods love doesn’t fade, it is eternal, it does not change on a whim, or due to our poor performance, or weakness, but rather it is always with a redeeming motive. God is all about building us up. He is more committed to us, than we are to Him!

Apostle John not only encourages the 1st century church with the following scriptures but us as well!

I John 3:1Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!” John is pointing out a distinct type or way of loving that is different and much more pure than our human love forms or practices.

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us”…. this is an “Agape’ download!”

I John 4:16 John the “Apostle of Love” writes… “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.” God made His love known to, and believable to the 1st century believers. They personally experienced an “Agape download!” The Father is no respecter of persons. In Him is no shadow of turning. He changes not. His desire will always be for us to receive a perpetual “Agape’ download!”

Are you hindered to receive His Divine Love?

There is always a way to open up a clogged artery, or to prepare ones heart for download. Don’t hesitate or wait any longer, His eternal love for you is for NOW and FOREVER!

Passionate Son

PASSION!

  • What is it in your life that makes you “pound the table” with great intensity?
  • Or is there anything?

Passionate or Passionless?

Jesus passionately took action to preach, teach, heal, raise the dead, and even  suffer emotionally and physically unto death. He was passionate to fulfill the purpose of God the Father for His life! I am not saying He had a smile on His face as the soldiers whipped, beat and humiliated Him, but inside His heart, He was passionate to complete the destiny His Father had spoken into Him – His life for ours.

Jesus heard His Fathers voice because of the intimate relationship He shared with His Father.
John 5:19 (NKJV) Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.”

Our fathers are to speak destiny into us. So, did yours?

Generally, we all experience highs and lows emotionally throughout our lives. This is partially due to the fact that our lives are made up of a series of transitions; Like Jesus, some exciting, adventurous, and fun, while  others are  painful, unpleasant, and draining. Without purpose, it’s all but impossible to be passionate in the midst of an unpleasant transition. Again, Jesus was not without purpose! How about you?

Passionate or Passionless?

Passion always precedes action that accomplishes great things! The lack of passion produces mediocrity, with an anemic contentment for life. You are called to great things, that is… your destiny. When you begin to hear your destiny spoken from a father- figure, you will become passionate and that will activate your destiny call to greatness.

If you are “unmoved by feeling” or passionless, perhaps your earthly father couldn’t or didn’t speak destiny into you, or maybe like me, you closed your heart to hear anything from him. Regardless of the why, are you ready to tear down the walls, and open your heart to fathering? Maybe you have closed yourself off to other authority figures that saw your potential, but sensed your resistance.

What better time than Fathers Day week to sow freedom into your relationship with the father-figure/s in your life! If you are ready to become that passionate son/daughter… read this prayer out loud with me.

“Heavenly Father, I acknowledge my emotional wounding that has hindered my ability to feel passion. I am choosing right now to forgive ___________ (say their name/s) for not speaking destiny into me. I ask your forgiveness for closing my heart to dad and/or other authority figures in my life. By faith, I believe I am forgiven, and I ask Father that you would open my spiritual ears to hear you everyday concerning the plans (Jeremiah 29:11) that you have for me.
In Jesus name I pray… Amen!”

You are destined to greatness by Almighty God!

The mind is the target the enemy so often uses to tear us down and destroy our faith. The Apostle Paul demonstrated “Living His Presence” and strongly advises us towards mind renewal in Romans 12:1,2.

In this 5 part “Transformer” series we have talked about being “Non-Conformists“, and “Taking Inventory” of our thought-life. This process requires us to be deliberate, as we train ourselves in godliness.

In order to train ourselves we must present our bodies to God. In order to present our bodies, we must be “Living His Presence!” Too many of us perceive God as being a zillion miles away, unapproachable, and untouchable. I want to encourage your faith right now, that you are in His presence always, even when you don’t feel like it.

Is it possible for there to be random times in our lives that God says “excuse Me, I’ll be back later”?

Psalm 139:7-8 tells us “Where can I go from Your Spirit?  Or where can I flee from Your presence?  If I ascend into heaven, You are there;  If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.”

So…if I go to the store, am I on my own? If I am cutting the grass, am I alone? If I am visiting my parents, or unsaved loved ones, God stayed in my prayer closet? NO!

When our heart is seeking (expecting) God, when our mind is set on what He is doing or wanting to do, we are operating in a “hope” that pleases Him and sets in place an environment for “Living His Presence.” Wouldn’t you like to live there? You can!

Picture “Hope” in this way; “having your neck extended forward, while your eyes are scanning the landscape.” God responds to our faith, hope, and love. If we choose to live with outstretched necks, and eyes that perpetually scan the landscape for our God, He will not disappoint, but on the contrary, will draw near to us, and love on us, because that is His nature!

I encourage you as we conclude this “Transformer” series to develop your lifestyle by;

  1. Initiate a Mental Inventory
  2. Take a “Non-Conformist” posture
  3. Choose Transformation
  4. Renounce Judgments
  5. Live His Presence

As your lifestyle is transformed, you will not be disheartened by this physical realm, rather enlightened by the supernatural realm. You will become a greater reflection of Him, in the here and the now!

In review we have taken inventory of our thought life (T.P.I.), we have chosen the “Non-Conformist Posture” by carefully selecting what media we “feed on”, and we have seen and read a radical testimony of “A Life Transformed”.

Now, “Here Comes the Judge”…
Lets go a little deeper by separating ourselves of judgmental thoughts towards others that bring defilement back on ourselves.

There is a Biblical law that we often take for granted, that we would do well to live our lives by. Galatians 6:7,8 (NKJV) “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”

This law is often used in the context of “giving offerings” that we might reap a return. True…, but it also works in the negative. Example; if you sow seeds of disunity (slanderous and dishonoring words) in your family, church, group, workplace, etc, your return will be backbiting, blaming, jealousy, competition, and ultimately division. If you sow luscious apple seeds, that tree will produce luscious apples!

Do You Stand As a Judge?
When we judge others, we are looking for justice! “He is such a tailgater, I’d like to jerk him out of his car and tell him a thing or two!” Sound innocent? NOT! The judgment is “He is a tailgater”, the justice we demand is “I’d like to jerk him out of his car…” My definition of judgment is “an observation with teeth”. We often want to see consequence and payment for the wrong done.

My friends, the Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 12:2a “And do not be conformed to this world (lots of Judges are amongst us), but be transformed by the renewing of your mind! Jesus Himself clearly addresses “Judgments” in these verses; Matthew 7:1, 2  (NKJV) “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 “For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

Jesus has applied the law of “Sowing and Reaping” here “with the measure (same zeal) of judgment we use, it will be measured (same zeal) back to us. No Mercy! Or, “with what judgment you judge” (same kind) means we will become what we judge. I judged my father’s addictions; I became an addict only worse!

Transformer I ~ Take Inventory of Your Thought Life – Read Proverbs Daily

Transformer II ~ Be Deliberate – Just Say NO!

Transformer III ~ Judging Others Defiles Me

Ask the Holy Spirit to quicken to you when you make observations about others weaknesses and you have attached teeth (desire justice to be served on them). Choose to rather pray for them. Words that we speak have the power of life and death. Choose to speak blessing over them, that they be strengthened in godliness and righteousness. God can change them, so pray for them. By so doing, you are speaking life into them, and will stop defiling your own soul.

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to convict you of making judgments.
  • Choose to pray for them.
  • Choose to speak a blessing over them.

Keep watch for Transformer 5 coming soon.

Bob Parr ~ Age 17

For some twenty years, rebellion was all I knew. I fashioned my life after it. Drugs, sex, and rock’n roll were my only passions. At age 16, I was married and a father. By age 28, I was twice divorced and because of my wounded heart, had positioned my three children in unacceptable circumstances. I managed to gain custody of my two oldest children. I lived rent free and jobless with my sister in grandpa’s basement, freeloading off both of them.

I lived selfishly, knowing there had to be more to life than what I was experiencing.

Then on Sunday morning, March 10, 1985 I awoke from a cocaine and whiskey hangover. The television was on with the volume muted. I saw Jimmy Swaggart preaching in a soccer stadium in Africa, and his words traveled across the bottom of the screen saying; “if you need a new life, here are the three things that will give you “New Life!”

First you need to confess that you are sinful and commit sins, second you need to ask Jesus to forgive you for your sins, and thirdly, invite Him into your heart to be both your Lord and your Savior.

As I wrote these three things down I also prayed them. I had destroyed so many brain cells in previous years that my memory was embarrassingly limited. I didn’t want to miss this chance at “New Life!” That day, Jesus heard my heart cry and set me free!

I was instantly free from nicotine, alcohol, and drug addiction. He convicted me gently of my foul language. Because of the love I felt from Him, I didn’t want to do anything to displease or disappoint Him. I figured that I had destroyed the first half of my life and I wanted to surrender the second part wholly to Him.

He is not only the God of a second chance, He is the God of another chance!

I soon met my current wife and we have been married for over 22 years now. Together, we’ve preached the Gospel in over 20 countries.

  • Perhaps you’re rebelling?
  • Maybe you’re feeling stuck in life?

If you desire a “New Life”, pray this prayer right now! Don’t wait another day!

“Heavenly Father, I’ve lived a life contrary to Your plan for me. I am a sinful person. I am asking You, Jesus, to forgive me of my sins, and come live in my heart. I choose to make You both my Lord and my Savior.”

Non-Conformist Transformer

Non-Conformist Transformer

One of the most destructive subliminal devices the enemy uses on humankind are today’s media! The internet can be extremely good and extremely evil. If you agree, you have either experienced both the good and bad, or heard stories that made an impression on you. The internet is not the only available media that offers an evil package to anyone willing to feed on it. Cable TV, Radio, Audio Music CD’s, DVD Movies, and many others are available at our beckoning will.

If our will is conformed to God’s will – we will prosper Spirit, Soul, and Body. On the other hand, if our will is conformed to the offerings of the world system, or even a mix, we will encounter less than God’s will for our lives.

To the degree that we resist, or choose a “Non-Conformist Posture” to the world system, determines the degree of  our “living in His perfect will”.

In I Corinthians 5:8 Paul warns “…not to eat of the leavened bread of the Law, or of malice (ill will to others) and wickedness, but eat of the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” (my paraphrase) One application for us today is “Do not feed on the leaven of the “worldly” media that is so easily set before you, but rather feed on that which is Sincere and Truth.

  • His Word – faith comes by hearing the Word of God!
  • His Presence – your life is transformed when you encounter Him! (More on this in Transformer III).

Jesus in His sacrificial work on the cross for you and I, was not a mixture of the ways of the world and the ways of Father God. He was unleavened, unmixed, purely Sincere and Truth! John 14:6 Jesus says “I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

We have all been defiled with the leaven of the world at some point, and to some degree. We will perhaps always wrestle with choosing the “Non-Conformist Posture”. Our flesh is attracted to self-gratification. But I encourage you, each one, to fight the fight of faith, run the race with a pure heart and mind.

Transformer II – Be deliberate not to entertain the readily available “leaven” of the media. Just say “NO!”   Titus 2:11,12

Discipline/TrainingSay no at least 3 times today to defiling media you would normally feed on!

In closing, a few weeks ago, one of my relatives offered me a DVD to watch, for entertainment. Knowing I am a preacher the warning came as they handed it over “It’s a great war movie, but the language is terrible”.

As the evening approached, my wife stepped out, the days work was done, and my plan was to make popcorn and….

Then I remembered a recent message I had heard and my Spirit man said “You can’t afford to watch that!”

I did not conform to the leaven served up for me to feed on.

What can you afford?

Taking Inventory Transformer

According to the Word of Truth, we are to be non-conformists to the ways of the world (temporal) but to be transformed to the ways of God (eternal). Now, God is Love, therefore we are to be transformed to the ways of love by the renewing of our minds. Romans 12:2 (my paraphrase & interpretation)

It has been said and books have been written about our mind being a battle ground. I want to offer some tools that will help transform the activity on that battle ground into something like “the cold war”. No activity, only threats!

You see, right now, for many of us, in our minds there are “bombs bursting in air, and the rockets red glare” all around us. The activity is almost unstoppable and it is very negative as mentioned in an earlier post on MyPain His Pain III. Negativity is always fear based, which is the opposite of faith based. Bondage is always fear based, and true freedom is all about rest.

The first transformer we want to look at has to do with inventory. Here is a practical exercise I want to call our T.P.I. or our Thought Process Inventory. Take an empty sheet of paper. Date it. Start in the morning one hour after you wake up. Jot down what you thought about in that first hour (daydream in the shower, over coffee, etc). Do this hourly for the first day. In other words take inventory at 9 am, 10 am, 11 am, etc. Jot it down, don’t write a book! Recall what you found yourself pondering. Someone’s list may resemble this;

My T.P.I.

  • 9 AM      My job, and how senseless it seems, to do things this way.
  • My spouse, what a dreamboat!
  • My car, what a junk pile.
  • My bills, I will never get caught up.
  • My peers, they are so much smarter than me.
  • Our government, what a bunch of idiots.
  • 10 AM    My boss, what a jerk
  • That comment Sue made yesterday, she is so arrogant!
  • I am stuck in a rut, live in a hut, sit on my butt, and fill my gut… with junk food!

Notice how much is negative? Though this is totally hypothetical, it is not uncommon to a large percentage of people to process so much negativity. When we dwell in the negative, we will reap a harvest of ill feelings, oppression, sarcasm, pessimism and ultimately always expecting the worst in everything and everybody. There is not much “Love” in the thought process’ listed in those 2 hours above is there?

Remember in the previous post I mentioned “Discipline” and “Training”? Well, here we go! If you want change, follow me!

Transformer 1 – Read your Bible! My suggested prescription for you; One Chapter in Proverbs per day. This is “Wisdom Literature” and there is one chapter for every day of the month! Enjoy! On your breaks have a 5 or 10 minute read, several times a day. Read it over again! Meditate on the Word and watch your thought life be transformed!

In Ephesians 5:25-27 Paul uses an analogy of how Christ cleanses His bride, (the Church) with the washing of water by the word.

Now that you are reading and washing, continue to fill out your T.P.I. and watch it transform!

Keep watch for Transformer 2 coming soon.

We’ve heard this verse quoted often ~ Romans 12:2, but do we really understand the impact of it and how to actually do it? “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind”

Our actions usually reveal our thoughts. What we process in our mind, is generally what comes out in our conversations, and our actions. If we are displeased with what we consistently find ourselves blurting out, or what we find ourselves acting out, then consider this!

How does a 90 pound weakling, become a 140 pound muscle-bound power pack? Discipline and training are the two words that come to mind. Problem is, most of us run from those words! Okay, let me put it this way. How bad do you want change?

“Until your pain (emotional) is greater than your shame, you won’t change” ~ Roger Gosnell

Want to train with me? Shoot me a comment as I am working on a series “Transformers” and will only post it if there is an interest!

High Visibility Boundaries

When the Fall of the year is mature, landowners re-establish and re-mark their land boundaries with (high visibility), “No Hunting” or “No Trespassing” signs. This is done to help control who is welcomed on the land to take of its bounty, OR NOT! Permission is required by the owner. The signs are usually fluorescent so they are (highly visible). There can be no question “Where is the Boundary Line?”

An abuser of control in our lives, be it a spouse, a parent, a child, a co-worker, co-student or whoever, can often be identified by their “extreme high to low emotions”. They use emotions to CONTROL and sometimes their physic. They establish or set up “illegal” or “unhealthy boundaries” in the relationship! The victims response often is “Oh good, he/she is in a good mood, or Oh no, he/she is angry and I need to avoid or appease them!” Sound familiar? “Where is the  Boundary Line?”

Similar to the analogy of the land owner, the “trespasser” establishes control because there are no (high visibility) signs or healthy boundaries  used to keep un-welcomed people (controlling abusers) out. In this unruly relationship, mental and sometimes physical molestation is commonplace. The heart attitude connected to this abuse is often rage, division, and word cursing. Lawlessness abounds, joy is manipulated at best, and bondage dominates. Matthew 24:12 “Where lawlessness abounds, the love of many will grow cold.”

Establishing healthy boundaries (high visibility signs) with the said abuser allows you to separate yourself far enough from them, so you can seek God and seek counsel for God to bless them, and heal them at the root of their problems. The question is are you tired enough of fear and intimidation to establish healthy (high visibility) boundaries that can bring change? “Where is the Boundary Line?”

“Healthy Boundaries” is another part of our Quest for Freedom! Galatians 5:1 “It was for freedom that Christ has set us free…”

WE DECLARE WAR!

The enemy thought he had us beat
because there have been many causalities
But little did he know our strategy
is to raise up a young nation,
using God’s word;
battering this adversary

I’m talking about a generation of warriors.
Front line soldiers who refuse to believe
life is all about fast money, cars, and greed.

See, the media wants us to think that success for this generation is a no-go
But we wage war for this generation
Because there is hope
No matter what statistics claim
Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

So We Declare War

We wage war against this perverse & sinful environment
We wage war so that somebody will hear the good news and repent
We wage war because someone’s mother or father will receive salvation
Based off the godly lifestyle of THIS generation

We are warring where the devil has planted roots—

Years of abuse. Years of self-degradation
Years of strife among the brethren and suicide contemplation
Wickedness in this very nation
But this generation, has been called-out and chosen
for the Lord’s glorification.

We’re warring against the baby momma, baby daddy mentality
Generational curses running ramped in the family
But we’re warring to get our minds back to what God’s intentions are, see

We are in desperate need of a change.
And with our sling in hand, we’re taking aim.
We’re armored up. Made up.
Got our weapons laid up.
Raised up. Saved up.
But most of all
We’re prayed up

Because we declare war!

And though we fight many battles down here
I’m looking forward to that day
When Jesus appears
When sin and death will reign no more
And every man will receive his reward

Christ the King is coming back with a double edge sword
Giving Satan every beat down he had in store
Showing the world once and for all that Jesus is Lord!
But until then,
we’ll keep fighting
For our salvation is nearer now than ever before
But until that day comes,

WE DECLARE WAR!!
